Chum Chow was developed by Carl and a local Malamute breeder in 2000.  At first, Carl was not interested in adding a pet food line to his already successful butchering business. It didn’t seem to relate close enough with Carl’s desire to provide choice, quality meats for humans.

Carl, however, remained dedicated to pleasing his customers, and it became increasingly clear that his customers desired to provide their pets with food of the same high caliber of which they themselves were eating.   As a result, the Chum Chow recipe was formulated and adjusted, production glitches were ironed out, and Carl was finally able to deliver a top quality product to the discerning public and their pets.

Chum Chow has become very popular with pet owners who adhere to the “raw food diet” plan.  Dogs, as well as cats, which are fed Chum Chow thoroughly, enjoy their daily diet and owners are consistently pleased with the health of their pets.  Veterinary visits for gastrointestinal and skin problems are minimized, if not eliminated, thereby saving pet owners money and providing them peace of mind.

At first, the thought of feeding raw food to your pets might seem offensive, but it is interesting to know that in their dietary history, dogs and cats were designed to be meat and bone eaters. They are carnivores.  Unlike deer, mice or even birds, dogs and cats were not created to eat grains.  The bacteria and enzymes needed to properly digest grains are not native to dogs or to cats.  Their digestive systems are excellent at metabolizing raw meat!  It is their natural choice. While dogs and cats can exist on a grain-based diet, they will do much better on a raw meal diet such as the one provided by the properly balanced Chum Chow.
